Missions Ministry

Living Out the Call of Every Believer

Give to Missions

Thank you for giving to missions. Here are several opportunities for you to give.

The Great Commission is “The Mission”

Missions isn’t just a program—it’s a process and the heartbeat of our faith. At First Baptist Church Powder Springs, we believe every believer is called to live on mission, embracing a life that reflects God’s love and purpose. This process involves worshiping God wholeheartedly, loving others selflessly, serving God faithfully, and inviting others to know Him personally.

Together, we are committed to fulfilling the Great Commission, sharing the hope of Jesus locally and around the world. Join us in living out the mission God has placed on every heart!

Frequently Asked Questions

You don’t have to feel “fully ready” to say yes. A mission trip begins long before you board a plane or load a van—it starts with a willing heart. If you are walking with Christ, open to being stretched, committed to preparation, and eager to serve others, you may be ready. We provide training, team meetings, and spiritual preparation to help you grow in confidence and clarity before you go.

While church membership is not always required, we do ask that participants be actively involved in the life of our church. Mission trips represent our church and our mission, so we want to ensure that those serving are committed to growing in their faith and connected to our church family. If you’re not currently a member but are interested in going, we’d love to talk with you about your next steps and help you discern if this is the right opportunity.

  • Gaining an understanding of what it means to leave the comforts of home to serve the Lord in another state or country.
  • First hand experience of how missionaries depend on prayer support
  • Meeting some of God’s choicest servants, our brothers and sisters in other locations.

Once you’re approved for a trip, you’ll receive clear guidance on how to raise support. Many participants invite friends, family, and church members to partner with them through prayer and financial giving. Donations are processed through the church and applied directly to your trip cost. We can provide sample support letters, communication templates, and practical fundraising ideas to help you confidently share the vision and invite others to join you in the mission.

  • Candidates must have a salvation testimony and be able to clearly verbally express this conversion experience
  • Candidates must be FBCPS members
  • Candidates must complete a short-term mission application
  •
Participants must attend all team meetings and meet all requirements set up by the team leader

Yes! We believe mission trips are a shared ministry. Raising support allows others to be part of what God is doing, even if they can’t physically go. We encourage you to prayerfully invite others to partner with you. Many people are eager to invest in the spread of the gospel when given the opportunity.

No prior mission experience is required. While certain trips may benefit from specific skills (construction, medical, children’s ministry, etc.), the most important qualifications are a willing heart, a servant spirit, and a desire to share the love of Christ. We provide training and preparation before every trip, so you’ll feel equipped and confident in serving.

Both are meaningful and impactful ways to live on mission. Some are called to go; others are called to send. Scripture shows us that both roles are essential in advancing the gospel. If you’re unsure, start by praying and asking God how He wants you involved. Whether you step onto the field or support someone who does, you are participating in the Great Commission.

  1. Pray and ask the Lord for clarity and direction.
  2. Visit our Missions page to review upcoming trips.
  3. Fill out the interest form or speak with a missions leader.
  4. Attend an informational meeting for the trip you’re considering.

We would love to help you take your next step—whether that’s going, giving, or praying. God uses ordinary people with willing hearts to accomplish extraordinary things for His kingdom.
