At First Baptist there is a place for you to get involved. Listed below are our traditional worship opportunities.
Choral Preschool and Children’s Music - Graded choir program for children 3 years old through 5th grade. Units meet each Wednesday evening at 6:15 PM and perform several times a year for worship services. Church Choir – This a non-auditioned choir that leads our 10:45 AM Sunday worship services and performs many times during the year for special occasions. This choir is open to any singer that wants to praise the Lord through traditional hymns, choruses, and anthems. Rehearsals each Wednesday evening, 7:30 PM. Happy Hearts Choir – Our senior adult choir meets each Thursday morning, 10:00 AM. If you are ready for a fun hour of music and laughter, come join us as we sing old hymns, anthems, and traditional gospel music. This choir leads in worship several times a year.
Ensembles Choral ensembles are auditioned/invitation only groups that perform monthly in worship and seasonally throughout the year. The ability to read music is requested. HeartSong – This is a ladies ensemble that rehearses once a week on Monday evenings and leads in worship monthly. Martha Parker, Director. Gospel Quartet – This men’s gospel quartet rehearses on Thursday mornings. Directed by Steve Jett, this quartet sings gospel favorites in worship throughout the year. First Praise – Men’s a Capella ensemble meeting weekly. The group is led by Denson McDow. They are a favorite to lead worship and perform in civic venues as well. Instrumental Percussion Ensemble – This children’s ensemble is a beginning group. They learn notation and rhythm using the Orff percussion instruments. Grades 4 and 5 meeting Wednesday’s at 5:30 PM, directed by Ron Sears. Church Orchestra – Participants must have at least 3 year’s experience on a musical instrument and audition for director of orchestral ministries, Clay Ramsey. The orchestra rehearses weekly and leads in worship bi-monthly. They also play for special events throughout the year. Powdertown Brass/Trumpets of Praise – These two instrumental groups rehearse and play on various worship and civic occasions throughout the year. Steve Jett, Director.
